Advanced Industry Certifications
3eplus is led by Leandro Etcheverry, Ph.D., P.E., an AMPP-Certified Cathodic Protection Specialist (CP4) and Senior Coatings Inspector (Level 3). These the highest level certifications in cathodic protection and coatings awarded by the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP).
Why Choose 3eplus for Materials Consulting?
Engineering Excellence
Led by Dr. Leandro Etcheverry, PhD, PE, our firm provides a level of scientific rigor that standard consulting firms can't match. We apply advanced metallurgical and electrochemical principles to solve the most complex corrosion challenges.
"Site-to-Lab" Analysis
By combining hands-on field investigations with rigorous laboratory testing, we identify root causes, ensuring the solution fits the actual condition of the asset.
Industry Leadership
Dr. Etcheverry hasn't just followed industry standards—he’s helped write them. With decades of leadership within AMPP (formerly NACE) technical committees, we stay at the forefront of corrosion mitigation technology.
Cost-Effective Strategies
We believe in providing options, not just expenses. By accurately "listening to the structure," we develop targeted mitigation strategies that work within your budget.
We provide materials engineering solutions for infrastructure corrosion challenges for a wide range of industries.

How it works
Assess
We believe that the first step of any evaluation involves listening to our client's goals and constraints. Goals could be take form of service life extension requirements, aesthetic requirements, etc. Constraints, for example, could involve the need to work around a process or to stay under a certain budget.
Test
Our staff is experienced in conducting field testing utilizing both non-destructive and semi-destructive testing techniques. Samples are obtained in the field for laboratory testing. We have the flexibility to redirect field efforts to evaluate and understand any hidden field conditions.
Analyze
Once the field and laboratory testing is completed, the data is analyzed. The analysis of the data involves the cumulative body of field and laboratory testing data. Graphs and models could be useful toward this pursuit.
Recommend
The recommendations can be presented in a written report, slide presentation and/or design documents (plans and specifications). We are not affiliated with material suppliers or contractors, and provide independent and unbiased recommendations.
3EPLUS
Cathodic Protection is the necessary proactive intervention to stop corrosion-induced "concrete cancer," where rusting rebar expands and cracks the structure from the inside out.
Extends Service Life
Unlike temporary repairs or coatings, CP addresses the electrochemical cause of corrosion. CP can extend the life of a coastal structure by decades, often doubling its remaining service life.
Long-Term Cost Savings
CP is far more cost-effective than repetitive "patch-and-repair" cycles. It reduces the need for massive structural overhauls and prevents the emergency closures that often plague coastal bridges and parking garages.
Preserves Aesthetics
Cathodic Protection dramatically reduces the corrosion process internally, eliminating the orange staining and surface cracking that ruin a building's appearance.
Prevents Cracking
Corrosion causes steel rebar to expand up to six times its original volume. CP neutralizes this reaction, preventing the internal pressure that leads to dangerous concrete degradation.
Protects Property Value
For coastal properties, corrosion is a major liability. CP maintains the structural integrity, ensuring it remains safe for use, prevents catastrophic structural failure and continues to yield a return on the capital investment.
Real-Time Monitoring
Modern Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) systems can be monitored remotely. This provides engineers and asset managers with real-time data on the structure's health.
Our Areas of Expertise
Cathodic Protection System Design and Implementation
Design and implement effective cathodic protection systems for various structures, including bridges, and buildings.
Reinforced Concrete Corrosion Evaluation and Repair
Assess and repair corrosion damage in reinforced concrete structures, considering factors like chloride ingress, carbonation, and environmental exposure.
Corrosion Mitigation Strategies for Infrastructure
Develop and implement comprehensive corrosion control strategies for infrastructure projects, including material selection, coating systems, and cathodic protection, to enhance durability and minimize maintenance costs.
Material Selection and Performance in Corrosive Environments
Advise clients on selecting appropriate materials for specific applications, considering their corrosion resistance in various environments to ensure the long-term performance of infrastructure and other structures.
Our Core Values
Structure-First Solutions
We prioritize the well-being of your structure, recommending the most effective solutions for its long-term health.
Collaborative Approach
We value open communication and work closely with you throughout the entire process.
Transparency and Integrity
We provide unbiased and honest assessments and recommendations, tailored to your specific needs and budget.
Cost-Conscious Solutions
We understand the importance of value and strive to deliver the most effective solutions without unnecessary expenses.
